The System O2 works by combining water (distilled or tap water), with the White Powder (sodium percarbonate) and the Black Powder (manganese dioxide) in the Canister. A chemical reaction takes place that liberates oxygen. The oxygen flows through a hole in the bottom of the Clear Base, and into the tube. It is expelled from the tube under water where is released into the Dome. Bubbles in the water in the Clear Base confirm the flow of oxygen. The tube for the face mask is inserted into the top of the Dome and the face mask placed on the patient.
After use, the remaining liquid can be poured down the drain. It can again be refilled for immediate use, or the unit can be rinsed and allowed to air dry. It is then ready to be repacked and used again.
